Aidan...

http://media.putfile.com/Aidan-being-a-weirdo

and here's another one from a few months ago. http://media.putfile.com/Classic75
(the second one is a pretty big file, so don't worry if it takes a while to download)

Kameo

With the 360 coming out in a little over 3 weeks, I am still trying to make up my mind about which 3 games I should get with it. I know I am definetly getting Madden, and after spending some quality time with this game on a kiosk at Wal-Mart, I know the second game on that list. Kameo is possibly the best looking game I have ever played, and the demo version I played didn't even have it's final coat of paint, so it will look slightly better when the final version is out. It took me a minute to get used to the controls, but once I had em' down, I couldn't stop playing. You switch forms with the face buttons (A, B,X,Y) and the attacks are performed with the left and right triggers. Kameo takes the form of 10 different beasts throughout the game, and they all have unique attacks and combination attacks. I could probably blab on for hours about this game, and I only played a 20 minute demo of it. So, if you are getting a 360, do yourself a favor and buy this game. Here is a link to a bunch of videos and pics of the game.

A picture is worth a thousand words....

Stubbs the Zombie..

I got this game for my Xbox last week, and while the game itself kicks ass (it is made with the Halo engine), the soundtrack is my favorite part. It's a bunch of old 50's songs remade by a bunch of modern "alternative" bands. Do yourself a favor and listen to a few samples....

Hypnotize

System of a Down will release Hypnotize, the second of two albums recorded at the same time, on November 22. Every preview for the album so far says the album is just as insane, if not more so, than Mezmorize. I personally can't wait for this CD, since Mezmorize was probably the best record I have heard in years. Anywho, here is a short preview article and a link to their website where you can listen to their new single and check out all their videos.

According to bassist Shavo Odadjian, System of a Down had planned to open Hypnotize — the second half of the band's Mezmerize/ Hypnotize double LP — with the sweeping instrumental "Hezze." Instead, the track was dropped entirely from the album and will be released at some point in the future on an EP or single.

"We wanted to start off really heavy," Odadjian said.
And as System's fans will learn on November 22, when the 12-track/40-minute album hits stores, "Attack" fulfills that mission admirably, with speed-metal blast beats and brutal, start-stop riffage that raise System to new levels of heaviness .

There are numerous similarities between the two albums: Both are rife with tandem vocals from frontman Serj Tankian and guitarist Daron Malakian, as well as unconventional and drastic time changes, blistering guitar sections interspersed with placid moments, and tracks that blend seamlessly into one another. But Hypnotize, taken as a whole, is a more thunderous and mystifying LP.

The mind-pulverizing racket of the album's second cut, "Dreaming," is highlighted by Malakian's crisp vocals, which dispense bizarre lyrics like, "For treated indigenously, digenously/ Human right is private blue chip, pry." Simultaneously, Tankian's frenzied voice rattles off lyrics at breakneck speed: "We're the prophetic generation of bottled water, bottled water/ Causing poor populations to die, to die, to die."

Malakian is the star of "Kill Rock 'n Roll," on which he proclaims, "I felt like the biggest a--hole/ When I killed your rock 'n roll," with an almost Bon Scott delivery. The song, which the band has been playing live for months, eventually morphs from jarring, start-stop rhythms into minimal guitars and neo-funk drumming. Next up is "Hypnotize," the album's first single, which features Middle Eastern-tinged guitars and keen lyricism: "Why don't you ask the kids at Tiananmen Square/ Was fashion the reason why they were there?"

"Stealing Society" kicks off its fervent tempo with a bassline that sounds co-opted from the Descendents and follows with fierce drumming, frantic guitar abuse and breakdowns galore. "Vicinity of Obscenity" finds Tankian repetitively speed-belting some characteristically nonsensical lyrics — "Banana, banana, banana, terra cotta/ Banana, banana, banana, terra cotta pie" — before the track wanders into disco lunacy, with Serj crooning, "Do we all learn defeat/ From the whores with bad feet?"

The convulsive, fast-paced "Tentative" features an electric cello toward the end, capping off three minutes of spastic vocals and crushing bass hooks. The gentle guitars featured in the triumphant "U-Fig" — which are sandwiched between ferocious riffs — recall Red Hot Chili Peppers axeman John Frusciante's solo strumming. "Holy Mountains," which showcases Tankian and Malakian's powerful harmonies, pummels the listener with bruising drums and guitar licks, but then softens the blow with delicate violins and orchestration.

Malakian handles the bulk of the vocals on "Lonely Day," with Tankian surfacing for the track's harmonized choruses; the tune's complex, intricate riffs leave one wondering just how System are going to replicate it live. Violins are employed once again during Hypnotize's closer, the politically charged "Soldier Side," which completes "Soldier Side (Intro)," Mezmerize's opening track. "They were crying when their sons left/ God is wearing black," Tankian wails. "He's gone so far to find no hope/ He's never coming back."

Hypnotize will be released as both a CD and a DualDisc, with the latter containing behind-the-scenes footage shot during the making of both records.

Dr. Gonzo

"YOU SEE WHAT GOD JUST DID TO US MAN?!"

I found this picture and had to post it. I watched this movie (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas) nearly every day my senior year. Good times. Alrighty, back to work!

Speaking of Private Pile.....

Kind of hard to believe Private Pile is on Law and Order now huh?

Man of the Week!

Yeah, I've been slacking for a few weeks with this, but I'm a busy man. Anyway, the Man of the Week this time is the great Sgt. Hartman. I remember when I was on the bus to Lackland AFB for basic training, all I could think about was him. Thank God my TI wasn't nearly as nuts as Sgt. Hartman because there was definetly a few Private Piles in my flight.

NHL 2K6 on the 360.

I am huge fan of hockey, and a huge fan of videogames. So it goes without saying I am really looking forward to this game. I was kind of worried the game wasn't going to come out since there has been absolutely no info so far and it's supposed to come out next month, but much to my surprise I found a big preview for the game today and it appears the game is going to kick major ass. I have always preferred the 2K NHL games to EA's games since they always have way better gameplay, and since EA isn't doing a hockey game this year for the 360, this will be the only hockey game in town. Works for me.

Trent Reznor

I have always been a big fan of Nine Inch Nails. Even when I was like 10 or 11 years old I thought they were insane. I clearly remember after buying the Broken album my brother saying "this shit sounds like static" Anyways, I found a really cool interview with Mr. Reznor that covers a broad range of topics. Good read if your a NIN fan, a good way to waste a few minutes if you're not. http://www.newtimesbpb.com/Issues/2005-10-20/music/music.html

Halo meets Dead or Alive!

This pic is from Dead or Alive 4, which will be released on November 22 for the Xbox 360. I have always loved the DoA games, but I was going to hold off on getting this one because there are quite a few other games that want already. But since I am such a Halo fanatic, this game is now a must buy for me. Oh yeah, that isn't the Master Chief either. Click the link to find out who it is, and for a bunch more screenshots.

By the way, don't trade in your Halo or Halo 2. Both games will be compatable with the 360 and if you have an HDTV, the games resolution will be much higher and the AA will be turned on so all the jaggies will be gone. Sounds good to me.

Mmmmm..360 goodness..

Well there has been a flood of 360 gameplay videos and trailors this week since Microsoft had it's X05 event in Amsterdam (wish I was there)
There are so many sweet looking games I don't know where to start. Instead of posting a thousand different links, I will post a couple to the sites that have the best video I have seen. I suggest checking out Too Human (INSANE) , Oblivion, Mass Effect (made by KOTOR's Bioware), Kameo, Perfect Dark 0, Madden, NBA 2K6, PGR 3, Gears of War, Saint's Row, Dead or Alive 4, and the Splinter Cell 4 trailor.

Oh yeah, The new Return to Castle Wolfenstein is being built from the ground up on the Xbox 360.

Madden for the 360 gameplay movie.

Here ya go. By the way, they have totally changed the control scheme for this game, as well as the way kicking is done. THANK GOD!
http://www.xboxyde.com/news_2117_en.html

and if you think the game looked a slow, or chugged a bit, that's because the video you just watched wasn't the finished product, so the game will run much smoother when we get it next month. I must say, I am quite pumped for this game now.

At the top of the post are some comparison pics of Heinz filed in the game compared to the real Heinz Field. Very impressive.

Halo Movie.

Finally. We may actually see a good movie based on a videogame. This article is from Bungie.net

The Great Hollywood Journey, Part II

No sense beating around the bush. I would only say that if you’re not already sitting down, you absolutely should.

A few weeks ago we were lucky enough to partner with two tremendous Producers from Universal, Mary Parent and Scott Stuber. In the short time they’ve been on board, Mary and Scott have joined with Peter Schlessel to accomplish unimaginably wonderful things. Example? They’ve secured an Executive Producer to help guarantee the creative integrity and technical excellence of the Halo film.

And that Executive Producer’s name is Peter Jackson.

I’ll give you a second to process. If you’re having a strong, emotional reaction, don’t panic. When I heard the news it took me the better part of a day just to stop smiling.

Yes. The Peter Jackson, Executive Producing the Halo film.

Needless to say I and the rest of Bungie are positively incontinent (Marty especially). But what really knocks us on our asses is we’re also getting the combined talent of the mighty men and women of WETA in the bargain. From fabricating Covenant weapons to building life-sized Forerunner structures to accomplishing shot after shot of complex live-action/CG integration – simply put, there’s no group of people we’d rather have realize the Halo universe on screen.

Indeed, I don’t think there’s another group that even could.

Mary and Scott know Peter Jackson and his partner Fran Walsh because of their work on King Kong (which Universal is distributing), so I asked them for their personal take on this development:

"First, let me just say how honored and excited Scott and I are to be involved in this project. As huge fans of the game ourselves we know how high the bar is. We've made it our mission to try and involve the absolute very best people one can imagine in every capacity. Having developed a great relationship with Peter and Fran through the extraordinary Kong experience, and seeing first hand just how unique a filmmaking environment they have crafted, we approached them about the possibility of coming aboard to Exec Produce. Not surprisingly, they were already avid fans of the game, and given our existing shorthand, they said yes! To be able to continue our relationship with them – on HALO of all projects – is really a dream come true for us in the biggest possible way.”

I daresay me too. And did I mention that Mary and Scott are awesome?

Not surprisingly I’ve begun apartment hunting in Wellington – though Chris Butcher says I can bunk with his grandmother in Christchurch so long I don’t mind a bit of a commute…

I’m only half joking. Parsons and I are hopping on a plane to New Zealand next week to meet Mr. Jackson and his team, and I imagine it won’t be the last time we make the trip.

If I didn’t make this clear in my previous update, Bungie’s in this for the long haul – 100% dedicated to making the Halo movie the best it can be. Now we have help. Ten thousand pound gorilla help. And that’s just about the best kind there is.

MAN OF THE WEEK (Oct 3)

Well, it's that time again. This week's "MAN OF THE WEEK" is none other than Patrick Bateman. I am sure you have all seen American Psycho, so there is once again no real explanation of why he has been chosed.
